China North Korea Ties Strengthen With Xi and Kim Meeting

China North Korea ties remain central to regional diplomacy as top leaders Xi Jinping and Kim Jong-un met in Beijing. Their meeting marked Kim’s first visit to China since early 2019, underscoring the importance of their partnership.

Xi reaffirmed that China’s support for North Korea will not change, regardless of shifting global dynamics. He emphasized Beijing’s commitment to strengthening cooperation, enhancing governance exchanges, and promoting cultural and economic partnerships. Moreover, Xi highlighted China’s global initiatives, calling for closer coordination with North Korea in international and regional affairs.

Kim arrived in Beijing to attend commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. This occasion also honored the broader victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. The event gathered over 20 world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. Kim’s participation highlighted North Korea’s alignment with historical remembrance and its regional partners.

During their discussions, Xi noted the enduring closeness between the two countries, comparing their ties to family relations. He also stressed the importance of safeguarding peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula. Furthermore, Xi encouraged more practical cooperation across multiple fields to create tangible benefits for both nations.

Kim responded with equal warmth, praising China’s development over the past six years. He reaffirmed North Korea’s support for China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing the unchanging nature of their friendship. Additionally, Kim expressed readiness to expand economic cooperation, boost trade, and maintain closer exchanges across government and party levels.

Both leaders also agreed to strengthen coordination at the United Nations and other multilateral platforms. They emphasized protecting common interests and defending regional stability through deeper strategic cooperation.

Later, Xi hosted Kim at a banquet, following a private tea meeting that underscored the personal rapport between them. Senior officials, including North Korea’s Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui, joined the delegation, reflecting the seriousness of the talks.

In conclusion, China North Korea ties continue to deepen through strategic dialogue and mutual commitments. Both nations view this partnership as essential to stability, cooperation, and long-term regional development.
