President Lee Sees South Korea Approval Rating Rise for Third Week

Date:

President Lee Jae Myung’s approval rating rose for the third consecutive week, reaching 56 percent. Analysts said public support increased due to positive reactions to his livelihood-related policies. The Realmeter survey showed a 2.4 percentage point increase in favorable assessments compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, negative evaluations fell to 39.2 percent, dropping by 3.1 points.

The rise in Lee’s approval rating was largely driven by centrist voters. Support strengthened after Lee declared the drought-hit city of Gangneung a national disaster. He also increased oversight on wage arrears, which received public praise. These steps contributed directly to the upward trend, according to analysts who track South Korea approval rating movements.

Lee’s approval rating had previously slipped for two weeks. Controversies over his special pardons for political figures and proposed tax changes on stock investments caused temporary declines. However, his recent actions on public welfare and economic issues helped reverse the trend. The survey suggests the public increasingly values policies that address everyday challenges and livelihoods.

Support for political parties also shifted slightly. The ruling Democratic Party’s approval fell 2.1 points to 44.6 percent. Meanwhile, the main opposition People Power Party gained 0.1 point, reaching 36.2 percent. Observers noted that South Korea approval rating trends often affect party dynamics, particularly when presidential support climbs steadily.

The survey gathered responses from 2,519 adults and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points. A separate poll of 1,005 individuals showed similar trends in party approval. Analysts said these results confirm the public’s shifting sentiment in favor of Lee’s policies, especially in areas impacting daily life.

Furthermore, the rise in South Korea approval rating indicates growing confidence in the president’s approach to national issues. Many citizens responded positively to government measures addressing economic challenges, disaster relief, and wage protection. Lee’s continued focus on people’s livelihoods appears to resonate with voters, reinforcing the upward trend.

Observers believe that the sustained increase in support may influence future policy decisions. The South Korea approval rating provides insight into public opinion and potential shifts in the political landscape. Analysts will continue to monitor trends as new surveys emerge and policy impacts become clearer.
