AI Server Growth: Acer Expands Beyond PCs

Date:

Acer is moving beyond traditional PCs and actively pursuing AI server growth through its subsidiary, Altos Computing. Consequently, the company focuses on research institutions and educational organizations across Southeast Asia.

The president of Acer’s regional operations, Hou Chih-yuan, explained that Altos began launching products for smaller clients, such as schools and research labs. These clients often lack attention from larger competitors. Therefore, Acer aims to establish a strong presence in the AI server growth sector.

Altos differentiates itself through a combined hardware and software approach. For instance, its management software, aiWorks, optimizes AI computations on Nvidia H200-grade hardware. This method allows medium-scale model processing without relying on top-tier equipment. As a result, Acer provides unique capabilities competitors cannot easily replicate, reinforcing its position in AI server growth.

Hou also acknowledged that selling the hardware alone presents challenges due to tight profit margins and entrenched industry players. Thus, integrating the software solutions adds value and ensures differentiation. In addition, this approach strengthens Acer’s reputation for innovative technology solutions.

Meanwhile, other Acer subsidiaries are expanding their reach. HSN, responsible for the after-sales services, is extending repair coverage to laptops, motherboards, and mobile phones. Furthermore, post-expansion plans include mergers and franchising, particularly in high-potential markets like India and China.

Similarly, Acerpure has diversified its offerings, expanding from a single air purifier to eight product categories. These now include water dispensers and air conditioners. The company sells products through over 1,000 global channels. Notably, Southeast Asia remains a key growth market due to rising incomes, a young demographic, and openness to new brands.

Hou emphasized that Altos, HSN, and Acerpure collectively strengthen Acer’s overall strategy. Together, they support both AI server growth and broader consumer electronics expansion. By leveraging innovation, diversification, and regional focus, Acer maintains a competitive edge across multiple sectors.

Ultimately, through its subsidiaries, Acer positions itself as a key player in AI server growth while steadily expanding its consumer electronics presence.
