China and Greece Strengthen Mutual Cooperation

Date:

China and Greece are committed to advancing win-win cooperation, Li Xi said during his four-day visit to Athens. The visit focused on strengthening bilateral ties and promoting mutually beneficial initiatives. Li, a senior CPC official, met Greek leaders to foster strategic, economic, and cultural exchanges, reinforcing the spirit of win-win cooperation.

Li Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, held talks with Greek President Konstantinos Tassoulas. He also met Speaker Nikitas Kaklamanis, Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, and Kostas Skrekas of the New Democracy Party. These meetings highlighted practical collaboration and mutually beneficial development, reflecting the spirit of shared progress.

During his meeting with Tassoulas, Li conveyed greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping. He noted that the China-Greece strategic partnership has made notable progress. Li emphasized that both nations should uphold respect, improve communication, and promote cultural and economic exchanges to ensure sustainable mutual benefits.

Li highlighted China’s role in promoting global peace. He referenced the recent 80th anniversary of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. The events reinforced the importance of remembering history, honoring martyrs, and cherishing peace—principles supporting long-term win-win cooperation.

Li also discussed China’s Global Development Initiative, proposed by President Xi at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Tianjin Summit. He expressed readiness to collaborate with Greece on implementing the initiative. He added it promotes a community with a shared future, further demonstrating mutually beneficial collaboration.

Anti-corruption efforts were another key topic. Li outlined China’s strict governance policies, stressing zero tolerance and comprehensive measures to prevent misconduct. He added that China is ready to share experiences and deepen collaboration with Greece, further promoting mutually beneficial outcomes.

Greek officials responded positively. Tassoulas highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the two nations. He praised China’s commemorative events and initiatives, noting their significance for peace and ongoing win-win cooperation. Kaklamanis welcomed further parliamentary exchanges, citing potential for shared projects. Hatzidakis emphasized the Port of Piraeus and encouraged more Chinese investment. Skrekas stressed Greece’s optimism about China’s development and commitment to bilateral friendship.

Li also participated in the China-Greece Civilizational Exchange and Mutual Learning Dialogue and visited the Port of Piraeus. The discussions reinforced both nations’ determination to expand practical cooperation, deepen cultural understanding, and sustain win-win cooperation in multiple sectors.

Analysts say the visit highlights growing strategic alignment between China and Greece. Experts note that consistent dialogue and shared initiatives strengthen trade, investment, and cultural ties. These actions ensure long-term mutual benefits and deepen win-win cooperation.
