Taiwan UN inclusion remains central to international debate, and Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung strongly renewed the call. Consequently, he urged the United Nations to recognize Taiwan’s role and allow full participation in global institutions.
Moreover, Lin argued that UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 has been deliberately misused to block Taiwan. He clarified that the resolution only determined China’s representation, while it never addressed Taiwan’s sovereign status or its people’s rights.
Furthermore, Lin explained that Beijing continues to twist the resolution to enforce the “one China principle.” According to him, this interpretation strips Taiwan of its rightful voice. As a result, exclusion undermines global cooperation and weakens fairness within international organizations.
In addition, Lin highlighted Taiwan’s strategic position as part of the first island chain. He emphasized that Taiwan strengthens democracy, safeguards freedom, and counters authoritarian expansion in the Indo-Pacific region. Therefore, Taiwan plays an essential role in global security dynamics.
Taiwan UN inclusion, Lin continued, would also deliver economic and technological benefits. Taiwan leads the world in semiconductor manufacturing, which underpins digital industries and advanced economies. Consequently, global supply chains rely heavily on Taiwan’s production capacity and innovation.
Meanwhile, experts have warned that leaving Taiwan outside international frameworks damages collective responses. Public health, disaster relief, and climate challenges require broad participation. However, Taiwan’s proven strengths in these areas remain unrecognized under current restrictions.
Lin also stressed that the UN must practice its principle of inclusivity. Therefore, member states should resist political pressure and accept Taiwan’s contributions. Only by including Taiwan can the UN fulfill its promise of leaving no one behind.
Looking ahead, Taiwan intends to keep pursuing wider international recognition. In fact, Lin noted that more governments understand the risks of excluding Taiwan. Taiwan UN inclusion will remain central to its diplomacy, while supporters expect momentum to keep building.
