AI Defense Advances: HiTrust Strengthens Cybersecurity in Taiwan

Date:

HiTrust has strengthened Taiwan’s fight against cybercrime with a new AI defense system. As a result, the company can detect payment fraud and online scams more effectively. By deploying AI defense, it also aims to secure a stronger position in the global cybersecurity market.

Founded in 1998, HiTrust specializes in digital finance and information security. Moreover, its Taipei headquarters and offices across Asia serve over 16,000 clients worldwide. The company emphasizes practical applications, ensuring that AI defense solutions address real-world security challenges.

Seven years ago, HiTrust established an AI team to tackle fraud in e-commerce and banking. CEO Kuo Cheng-i explained that the goal was to offer effective solutions for clients facing increasing risks. He compared fraud prevention to Formula 1 racing, noting that even the best drivers need high-performance vehicles.

HiTrust has integrated AI into its flagship solution, Veri-id. This system analyzes device fingerprints, user behavior, and customer profiles to detect suspicious activity instantly. Additionally, over 100 banks and payment institutions have adopted Veri-id, which reduces reliance on SMS one-time passwords by tailoring security checks to risk levels.

Beyond financial transactions, Veri-id blocks bots from hijacking e-commerce promotions or buying concert tickets. Meanwhile, the system screens abnormal accounts and devices connected to multiple cards on major platforms in Taiwan. These measures demonstrate how AI defense impacts broader digital security.

Kuo acknowledged that progress was gradual. Initially, research faced setbacks; however, HiTrust gained recognition in AI competitions and achieved adoption by international clients. “AI is a big market that has only just begun,” he added, highlighting future growth potential.

Experts emphasize that AI defense is essential as cybercriminals launch faster, more complex attacks. Furthermore, industry analysts predict global demand for such solutions will continue expanding, requiring companies like HiTrust to innovate constantly.

Looking ahead, HiTrust plans to refine Veri-id further and expand AI defense capabilities into new sectors. In addition, combining investment, research, and real-world deployment positions the company as a leader in AI-driven cybersecurity solutions.
