Marijuana Possession Leads to Actor Kenshin Endo’s Arrest

Date:

Tokyo police arrested actor Kenshin Endo on suspicion of marijuana possession earlier this week. The arrest occurred during an ongoing investigation involving fellow actor Hiroya Shimizu, who already faces drug-related charges. The case revolves around the discovery of cannabis at Shimizu’s residence in Suginami Ward. The key phrase marijuana possession appears central to this developing story.

Authorities detained 24-year-old Endo after finding 0.4 grams of dried cannabis in Shimizu’s home earlier this month. Endo denies the charges, claiming he saw what appeared to be marijuana but insisted it did not belong to him. He also stated he has never used marijuana. This denial has not prevented police from moving forward with the investigation.

The focus remains on 26-year-old Shimizu, who prosecutors indicted for violating narcotics laws. Shimizu’s case has gained attention as the police weigh charges against others linked to the incident.Notably, prosecutors did not charge a woman in her 20s who lives with Shimizu, even though she was present during the search.

Reports indicate four individuals were at Shimizu’s residence when authorities conducted their investigation: Shimizu himself, Endo, a male part-time worker in his 20s, and the woman. The part-time worker also admitted to buying two grams of marijuana. He said the group planned to share the cannabis, which makes all of them responsible for possession.

Endo, originally from Shizuoka Prefecture, is known for his role in the NHK historical drama “Reach Beyond the Blue Sky.” This incident marks a significant blow to his career, reflecting wider concerns about drug use in the entertainment sector. The Tokyo District Court approved Shimizu’s bail, and he was released afterward. He publicly apologized, acknowledging the disappointment caused to fans and colleagues.

This case highlights ongoing challenges related to marijuana possession and drug regulation enforcement in Japan. Experts warn that such incidents could further tarnish the reputation of the entertainment industry. Officials emphasize the need for stricter compliance and awareness to prevent similar occurrences.

Looking ahead, prosecutors plan to continue their investigation and evaluate whether further charges will be necessary. The legal process will likely shape how the public views drug-related offenses. Both Endo and Shimizu face uncertain futures as they await court decisions, underlining the serious consequences of marijuana possession allegations in Japan’s entertainment world.
