Japan LP Success Pushes Ateez to Oricon No. 1

Date:

K-pop group Ateez has topped the Oricon charts in Japan with their latest Japan LP, marking a major milestone in their international career. Their second full-length Japanese album, Ashes to Light, secured the No. 1 spot on both the weekly and combined album rankings. This achievement further solidifies their growing presence in the Japanese market.

The album’s lead single, “Ash,” also gained significant attention online. Its music video rose to No. 1 on YouTube’s trending video chart in Japan, showing strong fan engagement and local interest. This digital success mirrors the group’s ongoing momentum in physical sales and concert performances across the country.

Ashes to Light is Ateez’s first Japan LP in nearly a year. It arrives almost five years after their first Japanese studio album Into the A to Z. The group’s most recent release in Japan before this was the single Birthday, launched in 2024. Their return with a full album underscores the strategic importance of the Japanese market in their broader global plans.

The group’s eight members are currently touring Japan as part of their “In Your Fantasy” world tour, which began in July. Ateez announced two additional shows in Kobe to meet strong ticket demand. These added performances reflect the group’s increasing popularity and fanbase growth in Japan.

Following the Kobe concerts, the tour will continue in January 2026. The Asia-Pacific leg will include performances in seven Asian cities and two Australian locations. This expansion highlights Ateez’s ambitions to build deeper connections with fans across regions through live music experiences.

Music industry analysts point to Ateez’s success in Japan as a reflection of shifting trends in K-pop’s international strategy. More groups are now investing in local-language content to boost engagement and sales in key overseas markets. Ateez’s Japan LP shows how this approach can generate both commercial and cultural impact. Looking ahead, the group is expected to continue promoting the album while exploring additional collaborations and Japanese-language releases. As Ashes to Light gains traction, Ateez will strengthen its brand as a global K-pop leader with deep regional roots.
