Mongolia Vietnam Relations Strengthen with High-Level Meeting

Date:

Chairman of the State Great Khural Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve met with Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Tuan Thanh in Ulaanbaatar on September 30, 2025. The meeting focused on deepening Mongolia Vietnam relations through expanded cooperation in politics, trade, culture, and parliamentary exchanges. Both sides emphasized that this moment offers strong momentum to strengthen bilateral ties.

Amarbayasgalan highlighted that Mongolia Vietnam relations reached a new stage last year. The two countries elevated their partnership to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties. He explained that cooperation has grown steadily through joint efforts in politics, defense, economy, trade, transport, culture, and tourism. He also noted that regular high-level visits have consolidated parliamentary cooperation and strengthened institutional ties.

The Chairman underlined that the upcoming visit by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Quang Phuong will be important. This visit will deepen collaboration between the two parliaments and their secretariats. It will also create a stronger legal framework to support economic cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Nguyen Tuan Thanh praised Mongolia’s recent legal reforms, which aim to improve governance and efficiency. He noted that current conditions offer a favorable environment for advancing bilateral cooperation. He also emphasized that exchanges between inter-parliamentary groups have played a key role in strengthening cooperation across multiple fields.

Both sides agreed that there is significant potential to expand cooperation in trade, investment, transport, and cultural exchanges. Trade turnover between the two countries has grown rapidly in recent years. Officials expect exports of Mongolian meat and meat products to Vietnam to rise further next year. The mutual visa exemption agreement has also boosted people-to-people ties. In the first half of 2025, more than 40,000 Mongolian tourists visited Vietnam, reflecting this growing exchange.

Officials stressed their readiness to support business and transport initiatives that connect the two economies. They agreed to enhance the legal environment to create more opportunities for investors and traders. This shared vision reflects the growing strength of Mongolia Vietnam relations and their mutual interest in long-term cooperation.

Looking ahead, both governments plan to expand engagement through high-level visits, economic projects, and parliamentary collaboration. These steps aim to turn strategic agreements into practical outcomes. By aligning political dialogue with economic initiatives, they hope to unlock new opportunities for growth and regional connectivity. The recent meeting signals continued commitment to building a dynamic and diversified partnership.
