Hong Kong celebrations reached new heights on Oct. 1, 2025, as the city marked the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. From flag-raising ceremonies to dazzling fireworks, Hong Kong celebrations reflected unity, joy, and cultural pride. Moreover, the celebrations showcased the city’s rich cultural heritage.
The day began with a solemn flag-raising ceremony at Golden Bauhinia Square at 8 a.m. During the national anthem, China’s flag and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) flag were raised. Officials also introduced citizen-focused benefits to enhance participation in Hong Kong celebrations. These included free tram rides, complimentary museum and park entry, and discounts for dining and cinemas. By 4 p.m., the city recorded approximately 550,000 passenger trips at all control points. Moreover, inbound travelers exceeded 300,000, according to the HKSAR Immigration Department, reflecting strong visitor engagement.
The festivities reached their climax with a 23-minute fireworks display over Victoria Harbour, under the theme “Victoria Harbor Fireworks Shine Across the Motherland.” The show featured eight scenes, showcasing bursts of peonies, golden chrysanthemums, and silver spheres set to music.
