China expressed strong concern over the Gaza crisis after the United States vetoed a UN Security Council draft resolution. Fu Cong, China’s envoy to the United Nations, said the veto blocked urgent international action to address the Gaza crisis.
Fu spoke on Wednesday during the UN General Assembly debate on the use of veto powers. He emphasized the severe civilian casualties and widespread suffering caused by the Gaza crisis. The envoy noted that repeated vetoes have prevented effective Security Council responses, leaving civilians exposed.
“The international community has consistently called for a ceasefire and an end to hostilities in Gaza,” Fu said.
