Conscript Vocational Training Expanded Nationwide

Date:

The Cabinet of Mongolia has instructed the Ministry of Defense to expand conscript vocational training programs, aiming to equip young soldiers with professional skills. Conscript vocational training will now include short-term courses at vocational and technical education institutions and military training centers.

Minister of Defense Batlut Damba will oversee the initiative, ensuring more conscripts gain practical experience during their service. The government plans to fund the training through the Employment Promotion Fund, in accordance with existing legislation.

Officials were tasked with supporting institutions in delivering effective training and implementing measures to help conscripts transition into the workforce. The program will cover a wide range of professions, from technical trades to modern industrial skills, providing conscripts with tangible benefits after their service ends.

Over the past five years, approximately 2,000 conscripts have participated in vocational education programs. These conscripts received training in more than 10 professional areas through local vocational and technical centers. The program has successfully linked military service with practical career skills, enhancing post-service employability.

Experts note that conscript vocational training can strengthen both the military and civilian sectors. By equipping soldiers with skills applicable outside the armed forces, the program promotes workforce development while maintaining national defense readiness.

The Ministry of Defense also emphasized that expanding conscript vocational training aligns with broader social and economic goals. Authorities expect this approach to reduce youth unemployment and support industries requiring trained personnel.

Moving forward, the government plans to monitor the program’s effectiveness and adjust training courses based on labor market needs. Feedback from conscripts and industry stakeholders will help refine the initiative and maximize benefits for both soldiers and employers.

Conscript vocational training now represents a critical bridge between military service and career preparation. By combining education, practical experience, and employment support, the program strengthens national development while providing tangible opportunities for young citizens.
