Mongolia’s president highlighted the nationwide food strategy during a visit to Monos Food JSC, signaling growing national commitment to domestic manufacturing. The nationwide food strategy continues to guide large investments into food production, modernization and employment growth across the country.
President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa met company leaders and reviewed recent achievements under the government’s Food Supply and Security movement. During the visit, executives outlined expanded production capacity and rising demand for health-focused food products. They also emphasized that the nationwide food strategy has enabled stronger financing access and broader technological upgrades for local enterprises.
Monos Food JSC, founded in 2012, has evolved into a significant producer within Mongolia’s processed food sector. The company currently manufactures 72 health-oriented product lines and employs more than 280 workers nationwide. Its shareholder base now exceeds 16,000 investors, which reflects growing public trust and steady capital-market participation.
Following its successful 2019 IPO, the company launched major expansion projects to modernize its infrastructure. The first phase focused on boosting production levels and increasing operational efficiency across core product categories. The second phase introduced larger-scale improvements designed to strengthen long-term competitiveness and enhance manufacturing resilience.
Supported by low-interest loans and investment programs, the firm secured MNT 30 billion in financial resources. These funds enabled Monos Food to open an advanced production facility and expand its existing warehouse operations. The company also began constructing a new eastern Ulaanbaatar plant and upgraded its fruit puree production line for children.
As a result of these developments, production capacity tripled and physical output increased by 96 percent compared with 2022. Sales revenue also rose by 68 percent to reach MNT 19 billion, which underscored the strong commercial impact of recent upgrades.
The company simultaneously prioritized social responsibility initiatives to support workforce stability and environmental sustainability. Employee salaries grew by 50 percent, while total staffing increased by 20 percent during the development period. The company also reduced plastic packaging use by 30 percent, successfully cutting waste generation by approximately 172 tonnes annually.
Monos Food participated actively in national environmental programs by planting thousands of trees across designated reforestation areas. It also renovated treatment rooms for children with special needs at multiple hospitals, improving yearly access for thousands of young patients.
President Khurelsukh praised companies contributing to industrial expansion through the Food Supply and Security movement. He noted that more than 3,000 enterprises have received MNT 1.2 trillion in long-term financing support. He also highlighted the complementary White Gold initiative, which delivered tax exemptions and subsidies totaling over MNT 300 billion.
These programs collectively enabled the launch of 53 new factories and created 44,000 new jobs throughout the past year. Officials expect further expansion as Mongolia continues advancing its nationwide food strategy and strengthening its domestic economic base.
