China Grain Output to Grow Again in 2025

Date:

China grain output is set to increase again in 2025, following last year’s record of 706.5 million tonnes. The country continues to focus on expanding agricultural production while improving food security nationwide.

According to a report from the Chinese Agriculture Outlook Committee, China grain output could reach 709 million tonnes next year. The committee operates under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and shared the forecast on Sunday.

This growth comes from multiple factors. Officials have pushed large-scale efforts to raise crop yields per unit area. At the same time, farmers are showing stronger interest in planting and producing grain. This trend signals growing momentum for domestic food supply.

Soybean production will also rise. The report expects a 2.5 percent increase from 2024, bringing total output to 21.17 million tonnes.

As domestic supplies expand, demand for foreign products may drop. The report suggests that China will likely reduce imports of bulk agricultural goods.

China grain output improvements will not stop in 2025. Over the next decade, officials expect major gains in overall agricultural productivity.

More importantly, China plans to strengthen its ability to handle risks. The government will enhance food production resilience by preparing for climate shocks and global supply challenges.

China grain output plays a crucial role in economic stability and national strategy. The government has placed top priority on securing self-sufficiency in key crops.

Over time, modern technology and research will help the country raise both quality and quantity in crop production. These improvements aim to ensure long-term food security for its large population.

Experts believe this focus on self-reliance will also help reduce China’s exposure to global market fluctuations.
