North Korea Pushes Party Projects Ahead of Congress

Date:

North Korea has intensified efforts on key party projects as it prepares for the first Workers’ Party of Korea congress in five years. Party Projects now dominate the nation’s political and economic agenda, state media reported Monday. Authorities are urging full public participation to complete ongoing initiatives before the upcoming congress.

The Rodong Sinmun, North Korea’s official newspaper, called the period leading up to the ninth party congress a critical time for advancing Party Projects. Officials called the upcoming months a crucial period for fulfilling party directives and advancing reform.

The ninth party congress is set for January or February 2026. Analysts expect leader Kim Jong-un to unveil a new five-year development plan while highlighting progress on the Regional Development 20×10 Policy. Party Projects, especially infrastructure and regional development, will remain central as the regime showcases measurable achievements.

Rodong Sinmun urged officials to follow party decisions strictly and warned that they must not allow even a trivial case of incompletion. Officials must supervise construction and development programs to meet high standards and prevent public dissatisfaction. Observers say this effort signals both political intent and practical economic priorities.

Experts note that North Korea uses Party Projects to mobilize resources, enforce loyalty, and maintain momentum in state-led initiatives. The government encourages nationwide participation, linking project completion to national prestige and the congress agenda.

Furthermore, Party Projects serve as benchmarks for Kim Jong-un’s leadership. They provide visible results to promote domestically and abroad. Analysts suggest finishing infrastructure and construction tasks could boost both internal morale and international perception of governance.

Authorities plan to maintain strict oversight of Party Projects and track progress continuously. The congress will likely outline new priorities for economic growth, regional development, and public infrastructure. Consequently, North Korea’s political and social trajectory will depend heavily on the completion of these projects.
