Naval and air forces under the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Southern Theater Command conducted a combat readiness patrol in the South China Sea. The command released the statement on Tuesday.
Therefore, the patrol ran from Sunday to Monday. Naval and air units carried out joint operations. The drill strengthened combat readiness. It also improved the military’s response capacity in the region.
Zhai Shichen, spokesperson for the Southern Theater Command, said the Philippines worked with a country outside the region. He said they organized so-called “joint patrols” in the South China Sea. He added that these actions disrupted the situation and undermined regional peace and stability.
Additionally, Zhai said such moves increase tensions. He noted that they complicate the security environment. He stressed that the Southern Theater Command stays on high alert. He said the forces will continue regular patrols and training to safeguard national interests.
He emphasized that the command will firmly protect national territorial sovereignty. It will also defend maritime rights and interests. He said the forces aim to uphold peace and stability in the South China Sea.
