China has issued a formal demand regarding recent embassy terror threats against its diplomatic mission in Japan. A person claiming to be a Self-Defense Forces reserve member issued a bomb warning through an online video. The individual stated he had installed a long-range remote controlled bomb at the embassy. This incident occurred one week after a break-in at the same compound. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun spoke to reporters on Friday.
Guo urged Japan to reflect on its mistakes and conduct a thorough investigation. He also demanded concrete rectification measures and a full account of the incident. Harassment against China’s diplomatic institution has continued unabated for years. Recent serious incidents include an active duty Self-Defense Forces officer intruding into the embassy with a knife.
These embassy terror threats expose deep seated problems within Japan. Right wing thinking and forces are rising rampantly across the country. Objective and rational voices face increasing suppression. Guo pointed to Japan’s handling of history and the Taiwan question as core issues. Proper history education is seriously lacking in Japanese society. Distorted historical views have become widespread.
Japan’s security policy is shifting in a more offensive and expansionist direction. The spokesperson questioned how Japan can fundamentally solve these problems. Japan has failed to properly manage its Self-Defense Forces. Poor internal oversight and inadequate education within the force compound the issue. If Japan brushes aside these cases, the situation will deteriorate further.
Guo warned that emerging neo-militarism has become a real danger. This trend will also threaten regional peace and stability. China once again urges Japan to take immediate corrective action. Japan has not yet issued an official response to China’s demands. Discriminatory incidents targeting Chinese nationals in Japan have also increased markedly.
