Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Thai Deputy Prime Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow in Bangkok on Friday. Wang noted that this year marks the beginning of China’s 15th Five Year Plan and the start of the new Thai government’s governance.
Wang said China will work with Thailand to give full play to the consultation mechanism. Both sides should join hands to advance their modernization processes. The two countries will create a new golden 50 years for their friendship.
China has always placed Thailand in an important position within its neighborhood diplomacy. Beijing is ready to continue as a reliable strategic partner for Bangkok. China supports the new Thai government in following its own development path.
The two sides will maintain high level exchanges and enhance political mutual trust. They will strengthen the alignment of their development strategies. Initiating a new five year action plan represents a key priority. Both countries will completely eradicate gambling and fraud operations.
Wang expressed hope that Thailand and Cambodia will consolidate their ceasefire situation. Both neighbors should resume bilateral contacts and resolve border disputes. China will continue building a platform for mutual trust between them.
Sihasak said Thailand will firmly pursue the one China policy. Both sides will deepen all round cooperation in connectivity, economy and trade. Combating online gambling and telecommunications fraud requires joint efforts.
Sihasak expressed appreciation for China’s efforts in mediating the border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia. The two ministers agreed to enhance coordination for building Lancang Mekong Cooperation 2.0. The China Thailand strategic partnership now spans bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation.
