Mongolia PM Meets EU Ambassador to Boost Investment Cooperation

Prime Minister Uchral Nyam Osor received European Union Ambassador Ina Marciulionyte on April 28. The two sides discussed the current state of investment cooperation between Mongolia and the EU. They also reviewed ongoing projects and programs during the meeting. Moreover, they explored new investment opportunities requiring further attention.

Prime Minister Uchral stated that expanding relations with EU members remains a foreign policy priority. He introduced government policies aimed at increasing foreign investment. These policies also foster a favorable business environment. For instance, the Chuluulye (Liberate) initiative boosts the economy and supports business growth.

The Prime Minister highlighted recent achievements in bilateral economic ties. The 2025 EU-Mongolia Business and Investment Forum drew significant participation. The 2026 Investors’ Roundtable Meeting also advanced mutual interests. Additionally, the signing of a EUR 1 billion Memorandum of Understanding with the European Investment Bank marked an important milestone.

Prime Minister Uchral also noted that President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa invited a high level EU representative to attend COP 17. The conference will serve as a platform for expanding green development investment. Ambassador Marciulionyte expressed strong European interest in investing in Mongolia. Specifically, European countries want to expand renewable energy sector cooperation.

The Ambassador announced that European Day 2026 will take place in Darkhan Uul aimag on May 23. This marks the first time the event will occur outside the capital. The two sides exchanged views on deepening environmental protection collaboration. They also discussed local development and public private partnerships.

Future engagements will likely focus on green technology and sustainable infrastructure. The EUR 1 billion framework provides a solid foundation for concrete projects. Both parties expressed optimism about their economic partnership. The Ambassador’s visit underscores Europe’s confidence in Mongolia’s reform agenda. Observers expect more European companies to enter the Mongolian market soon. The government remains committed to creating a transparent environment for investors.
