India Foreign Minister Jaishankar Arrives in Mongolia to Advance Strategic Partnership During Official Visit

Date:

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Ulaanbaatar today for an important two day official visit. This trip follows an invitation from the Mongolian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Battsetseg Batmunkh. Officials welcomed the Indian delegation at Chinggis Khaan International Airport upon their landing this morning. This mission aims to deepen the long standing strategic partnership between these two friendly nations. Both countries seek to expand their cooperation across several key sectors including energy and technology.

The minister will meet with Mongolian leadership to review existing bilateral agreements during his stay. He plans to pay courtesy calls on President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and the Parliament Chairman today. These discussions will likely focus on the massive oil refinery project funded by Indian credit. This infrastructure development remains a vital milestone for Mongolia in its quest for energy independence. Both sides view this collaboration as a fundamental pillar of their growing regional diplomatic cooperation.

This visit builds upon a state visit by President Khurelsukh to India in October 2025. During that previous meeting, the leaders pledged to accelerate progress on several major connectivity projects. India and Mongolia share deep historical and spiritual ties that continue to guide their policies. Strengthening this strategic partnership remains a high priority for New Delhi as it engages partners. The minister will travel to South Korea next to continue his broader regional diplomatic tour.

India maintains a consistent focus on enhancing its influence through robust engagement with friendly countries. Experts expect the outcome of these talks to yield new pathways for future economic integration. The current administration views these high level interactions as essential for maintaining regional security balance. Officials will release more details regarding specific cooperation outcomes after the conclusion of these meetings. This official visit reinforces the commitment both nations hold toward maintaining a prosperous shared future.
