Mongolia will stage a full-scale military parade on July 10 to mark three significant national anniversaries simultaneously. Deputy Minister of Defense Baasandamba Dashtseden announced the decision following a government meeting on June 24. The parade will coincide with State Flag Day and form a central part of the annual Naadam Festival celebrations. Furthermore, the government has already approved the organizational framework and preparatory budget required for the event.
The occasion carries exceptional historical weight for Mongolia this year. The country simultaneously marks the 2,235th anniversary of its founding statehood, the 820th anniversary of the Great Mongol Empire, and the 105th anniversary of the People’s Revolution. Consequently, both the President and the Government jointly decided to elevate this year’s celebration beyond the standard annual format. The military parade will therefore feature armed equipment and military hardware not typically displayed during regular Naadam observances.
More than 8,500 personnel from the armed forces and law enforcement agencies will participate in the July 10 event. Additionally, the hardware display will include over 90 pieces of military equipment spanning fighter aircraft, helicopters, and specialized military vehicles. Organizers also plan to showcase newly introduced defense and security equipment that Mongolia has recently added to its arsenal. Moreover, the parade will feature domestically manufactured heavy and light armored combat vehicles alongside locally produced drone systems.
The inclusion of domestically built equipment carries particular significance for Mongolia’s defense industry ambitions. Indeed, displaying homegrown armored vehicles and drones signals the country’s growing investment in indigenous military manufacturing capabilities. Meanwhile, officials emphasized that the military parade also serves an important civic and educational function for younger generations. Dashtseden noted the event traditionally helps connect youth and the public to Mongolia’s history of independence and national security struggle.
