Shenzhou 23 Crew Advances Space Science Work in Orbit

Orbital experiments continue shaping daily routines for the Shenzhou-23 crew as they complete medical research, technical testing, and onboard maintenance tasks in orbit. After one month aboard the Tiangong space station, astronauts maintain a demanding schedule while balancing scientific work with daily life in space.

Chinese space authorities reported that the three crew members regularly conduct biomedical studies while also engaging in onboard activities that support long-term mission goals. Moreover, they combine structured research work with practical station operations to ensure smooth functioning of the orbital platform.

In one recent activity, the crew used ultrasound equipment to examine different parts of each other’s bodies in microgravity conditions. Subsequently, they collected detailed medical data from necks, wrists, and abdominal regions for scientific analysis.

Researchers on the ground will later analyze this information to study blood flow patterns and muscular adaptation under weightless conditions. Therefore, orbital experiments in human physiology remain a key part of the mission’s scientific objectives.

Additionally, the crew participated in neurological testing by using electroencephalogram devices to record brain activity. Meanwhile, they evaluated visual responses and motor coordination under varying light conditions to support cognitive research in space environments.

After completing their scientific tasks, the crew enjoyed a rare moment of comfort by preparing baked pumpkin inside a specialized space oven. This activity provided both nutritional variety and psychological relief during extended mission operations.

The space agency also confirmed that the mission includes a planned long-duration stay exceeding one year in orbit. Therefore, ongoing orbital experiments will continue generating valuable data for future human space exploration programs.

Finally, the crew continues balancing demanding research schedules with station upkeep while maintaining steady progress in multiple scientific fields. Overall, orbital experiments remain central to advancing China’s long-term goals in human spaceflight and space station development.
