Police arrested a 49-year-old woman on suspicion of assault after allegedly sewing her roommate’s lips together. The Koga Police Station in Ibaraki Prefecture announced this arrest Monday, detailing a disturbing case. Officers say the suspect targeted her 42-year-old female roommate at their shared home.

According to police, the suspect sewed the victim’s lips together in multiple places. This alleged assault occurred around 1:30 p.m. on June 29 at their residence. Consequently, the victim reportedly could not eat or speak following this injury.

The following day, the victim escaped while the suspect was temporarily away from home. She then carried a handwritten note reading “Please help me” to a nearby shop. Store staff immediately recognized the severity and reported the incident to police.

Subsequently, officers began investigating the circumstances and motive behind this alleged assault case. However, police have not disclosed whether the suspect has admitted to these charges. Authorities continue examining details surrounding the relationship between the victim and suspect.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about interpersonal violence occurring within shared living situations across Japan. Additionally, it underscores the courage required for victims to seek help despite severe injuries. The victim’s resourcefulness, using written communication, ultimately enabled her escape and rescue.

Local authorities have not released additional details regarding the relationship dynamics between both women. Furthermore, no information has emerged about prior incidents or warning signs preceding this assault. Police continue gathering evidence while determining appropriate charges against the arrested suspect.

Moving forward, this investigation will likely examine broader circumstances surrounding the alleged assault thoroughly.
