China’s Heilongjiang province is transforming farming through smart agriculture, driving record grain production and technological innovation. Autonomous tractors and intelligent drones now work across the province’s fertile farmland extensively. Consequently, Heilongjiang has maintained its status as China’s top grain producer for sixteen consecutive years.
Technology companies across the province are developing precision equipment supporting this agricultural transformation significantly. In Harbin, DEWO Technology continuously upgrades seeders equipped with real-time monitoring systems specifically. According to general manager Wang Chunyan, the company has operated at full capacity since April.
Additionally, Heilongjiang serves as a national pilot zone for advanced agricultural machinery research and manufacturing. Consequently, the province leads China’s domestic farm equipment industry through sustained technological innovation efforts. Huida Technology, another local firm, produces crop-protection drones alongside intelligent irrigation systems nationwide.
Notably, Huida’s flagship drone costs roughly 5,926 dollars and covers large farmland areas quickly. According to chairman Zhang Yu, over 300 employees focus specifically on research and development work. Furthermore, Huida has exported products to sixty countries, including Russia, Brazil and Indonesia.
Similarly, DEWO’s equipment has reached international markets including Kazakhstan, Peru and Zimbabwe successfully. International sales manager He Chunling noted farmers abroad have seen improved yields using this technology. Meanwhile, global manufacturer Case New Holland has operated a Harbin facility since 2014 continuously.
According to CNH China president Li Kang, Heilongjiang offers substantial market potential for equipment manufacturers. Provincial governor Liang Huiling confirmed accelerated smart agriculture upgrades occurred throughout the recent five-year planning period. Currently, Heilongjiang operates 676,000 intelligent agricultural machines, ranking first nationwide by significant margins.
The province has also developed twenty unmanned smart farms alongside China’s first AI weeding robot. Furthermore, mechanization rates for plowing, sowing and harvesting reached 99.28 percent throughout Heilongjiang recently. In 2025, the province recorded its twenty-second consecutive bumper harvest, producing 82 million tonnes of grain.
Looking ahead, Liang confirmed Heilongjiang will prioritize agricultural robots and intelligent farming equipment through 2030. Therefore, continued investment in smart agriculture will likely strengthen China’s food security substantially in coming years.
