At a seminar in Shanghai, Qiu Kaiming of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office affirmed Beijing’s stance. He stated that China will block separatist efforts and resist external interference. As discussions continued, participants addressed U.S. economic pressure, particularly through tariffs. Qiu assured that China can handle all challenges and has wide support for its countermeasures. He claimed that even people in Taiwan endorse these strong responses. Throughout the seminar, experts reiterated that mainland China rejects Taiwan independence in both word and policy. Many accused Taiwan’s current leadership of intensifying cross-Strait hostility.
They pointed directly at Lai Ching-te, Taiwan’s new leader, for escalating separation attempts. Experts said such actions undermine peace and the well-being of Taiwan’s citizens. Participants stressed the need for more dialogue and cooperation, not division. They called on people across the Strait to work toward national unity.
