Asia Folk 2025 Festival Showcases Asian Traditions in Ulaanbaatar

Date:

The Asia Folk 2025 Festival is preparing to light up Ulaanbaatar from June 13 to June 15, 2025. Now in its seventh year, this lively festival will take place at Sukhbaatar Square, right in the city’s center. Importantly, the event happens under the leadership of Nyambaatar Khishgee, Governor of the Capital City of Mongolia and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar. The Asia Folk 2025 Festival promises a colorful display of folk art and handicrafts from many Asian countries.

This year, the Asia Folk 2025 Festival gathers 170 talented artists from 11 different countries. These include Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Vietnam, China, and Uzbekistan, among others. Moreover, visitors will enjoy special joint performances where foreign and Mongolian folk artists share the stage. Additionally, a grand parade featuring traditional costumes from these countries will bring a festive atmosphere to Ulaanbaatar’s streets.

Alongside the performances, the festival offers many other attractions. For example, demonstration shows will allow visitors to see folk arts in action. Furthermore, the handicrafts exhibition and trade fair will give people a chance to explore and buy handmade items. These activities create a rich cultural experience for everyone attending. They also help promote the heritage and skills of Asian artisans.

The festival first started in 2019 under the name “Asian Folk Art Festival.” However, for three years—from 2020 to 2022—the event moved online because of the global pandemic. Now, the Asia Folk 2025 Festival returns as a live event, much anticipated by both the local community and tourists. Therefore, this in-person festival brings energy and connection that virtual formats could not match.

The Asia Folk 2025 Festival offers a unique chance for both Mongolians and international visitors to experience a wide variety of Asian cultures in one place. It helps deepen understanding and appreciation of different traditions. Moreover, it supports artists and craftspeople by giving them a platform to share their talents. In this way, the festival strengthens cultural ties across countries.

In summary, the Asia Folk 2025 Festival promises three days full of music, dance, art, and cultural exchange. Truly, it is a celebration of Asia’s rich folk traditions held in the heart of Mongolia’s capital. Therefore, anyone visiting Ulaanbaatar in mid-June will find this festival an unforgettable cultural experience.
