China Rejects UK Spy Claims Amid Commitment to Peaceful Development

Date:

China rejects UK spy claims in the wake of a new British intelligence report that accuses Beijing of increasing espionage activities. On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun strongly refuted the allegations during a regular press briefing in Beijing.

The UK report claims Chinese spying has grown significantly in recent years. In response, UK Foreign Minister David Lammy announced an $800 million investment into counter-espionage efforts. British lawmakers said the funding aims to investigate and counter suspected Chinese intelligence activities on UK soil.

However, China rejects UK spy claims and emphasized its peaceful international stance. Spokesperson Guo stated clearly that China does not interfere in the internal affairs of other nations. He reiterated that Beijing poses no threat to any country.

According to Guo, China remains committed to the path of peaceful development. He reminded reporters that both China and the UK are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council. They are also major global economies.

Therefore, Guo stressed that building strong ties and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation serves the interests of both nations. It also contributes to global peace and development.

Moreover, China rejects UK spy claims and sees them as a distraction from constructive dialogue. Guo said China welcomes better relations with the UK based on mutual respect. He also emphasized the importance of managing differences through proper channels.

However, Guo made it clear that China will not accept groundless accusations or political smears. He called for the UK to adopt a rational and objective approach when handling bilateral issues.

In recent years, both countries have experienced tensions over security, trade, and technology. Despite these differences, Chinese officials continue to promote cooperation over confrontation.

As global challenges grow, Guo concluded that open communication and mutual trust must guide the future of China-UK relations. Ultimately, China rejects UK spy claims in favor of dialogue and partnership.
