Xi Urges Youth Federations to Embrace Reform

Date:

Youth and students’ federations remain a central focus of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s call for stronger ideological alignment and reform. On Wednesday, President Xi urged these organizations to continue supporting the Communist Party’s direction while adapting to new challenges through reform and innovation.

He delivered this message through a congratulatory letter addressed to the latest session of the All-China Youth Federation and the congress of the All-China Students’ Federation. Both major national organizations opened a joint meeting in Beijing the same morning.

Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of political loyalty. According to Xi, youth and students’ federations must always uphold the correct political orientation.

Moreover, he called on them to deepen institutional reforms and pursue fresh ideas. In his view, this process will equip young people to meet national development goals more effectively.

Throughout his message, Xi repeatedly emphasized unity under the Party’s leadership. He said that youth and students’ federations should act as key forces in the country’s ongoing modernization and national rejuvenation. In particular, he highlighted their ability to drive innovation and support social cohesion.

Xi also noted that young people represent the hope and strength of the nation. He encouraged the federations to inspire youth to cultivate firm ideals, strong moral character, and professional skills. These values, he added, would support China’s long-term vision.

The speech aligns with the Party’s broader narrative, which consistently emphasizes ideological guidance and central control. Xi’s remarks come at a time when China is navigating complex domestic reforms and international tensions.

Party-aligned media extensively covered the letter, echoing Xi’s message about commitment, reform, and unity. The state sees youth and students’ federations as important platforms for nurturing talent and loyalty.

In summary, youth and students’ federations were urged to remain committed to reform, embrace innovation, and always follow the Party’s lead.
