China-Brazil Cooperation Boosts Ties at 17th BRICS Summit

Date:

Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized China-Brazil cooperation during his meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro. He stated that China is eager to work closely with Brazil to leverage their complementary strengths. The key phrase is China-Brazil cooperation.

Premier Li shared warm greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping and highlighted the strong relationship between the two countries. He said the cooperation is at its best, with both nations building a community for a fairer world and sustainable future. Furthermore, he recalled the important consensus reached during Lula’s May visit to China. Both leaders agreed to promote multilateralism and deepen bilateral ties.

Li mentioned China’s readiness to expand China-Brazil cooperation in trade, finance, infrastructure, and the Belt and Road Initiative. He also encouraged strengthening cultural, educational, healthcare, and youth exchanges to build closer people-to-people ties. Moreover, he called for joint efforts to ensure the success of the upcoming China-Brazil Year of Culture in 2026.

Both countries support multilateralism and free trade, Li said. China will coordinate with Brazil in global platforms like the United Nations, BRICS, and G20. This collaboration aims to promote an inclusive economic globalization and a multipolar world. China also backs Brazil’s hosting of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) later this year.

President Lula expressed his strong friendship with China and his commitment to deepen China-Brazil cooperation. He emphasized expanding partnerships in the economy, trade, technology, finance, and aerospace. Lula welcomed China’s involvement in COP30 and praised the recent China-CELAC Forum hosted by China.

The meeting concluded with signing several agreements covering finance, artificial intelligence, development strategies, and aerospace. These agreements mark a new chapter in China-Brazil cooperation, highlighting their mutual commitment to shared progress.
