Mongolian Math Team Wins Six Medals at Global Olympiad

The Mongolian Math Team delivered an impressive performance at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Australia. The event took place in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, and ended with an awards ceremony. This year’s Olympiad featured top high school mathematicians from around the world. Despite fierce competition, the Mongolian Math Team stood out. They earned one gold, three silver, and two bronze medals. Altogether, the team scored 174 points—Mongolia’s highest score since first joining the IMO.

Team leader Otgonbayar Uuye and deputy leader Bazar Tumurkhan guided the students through intense preparation. Thanks to their efforts, every member secured a medal. Their combined success continues a long tradition of excellence in mathematics. Compared to past years, this result marks a new peak for Mongolia. Each team member exceeded expectations and met the strict scoring standards. Their consistent effort showed through every round of competition.

The IMO challenges students with six complex problems spread over two days. Each problem tests creativity, logic, and deep understanding of mathematical theory. Although many teams struggled, the Mongolian Math Team maintained focus and strategy throughout.International educators and Olympiad officials praised Mongolia’s achievement. They highlighted the team’s discipline and steady improvement over the years. This year’s score proves that Mongolia is now among the world’s strongest contenders.

Looking ahead, the next IMO will take place in Shanghai, China. Preparations have already begun as the next team hopes to match or exceed this year’s success. In summary, the Mongolian Math Team brought pride to their nation with their record-breaking performance. With consistent support and growing talent, they remain a rising force in global mathematics.
