China Condemns U.S. Ban on DeepSeek, Vows to Protect Chinese Enterprises

Date:

China has strongly condemned the U.S. government’s ban on DeepSeek following reports that the U.S. Department of Commerce has prohibited employees from using the Chinese-developed AI model on government-issued devices.

During a press briefing on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning criticized the move, stating that China firmly opposes the politicization of economic, trade, and technological issues under the guise of national security concerns.

“China consistently opposes the overextension of the national security concept and the unjustified suppression of Chinese enterprises,” Mao asserted. She further emphasized that the Chinese government will take necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its domestic businesses.

The ban on DeepSeek reflects the escalating tensions between the U.S. and China over technology and AI development, with Washington increasing scrutiny on Chinese tech firms over potential security risks.
