Former South Korean PM Pulled into Explosive Secret Decree Scandal

Date:

South Korea’s special prosecutor has launched a deeper probe into a secret government decree involving top officials. Authorities raided the residence of former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo in Seoul. Prosecutors suspect that Han helped former President Yoon Suk Yeol prepare the failed martial law order. The search team collected documents and electronic materials for review. This action marks a major step in the ongoing investigation.

Prosecutor Cho Eun-suk leads the inquiry into the secret government decree. Investigators believe Han either supported or coordinated the controversial plan. They also allege that he helped write and later destroy an altered version of the decree. Legal experts say this could lead to charges for obstruction and abuse of power. The investigation continues to build with each new piece of evidence.

Han testified earlier that he did not know about the martial law document in advance. He said he only saw it during a Cabinet meeting and forgot it was in his pocket. However, new video footage reportedly shows him reviewing the document inside the presidential office. This new evidence could contradict his previous statements. Prosecutors plan to summon Han again once they finish analyzing the seized materials.

The secret government decree has raised public concern about abuse of authority. Citizens want answers about how far the plan reached inside the government. Political observers believe the case could reshape future trust in institutions. Prosecutors have interviewed other figures tied to the plan and may question more soon. The case now sits at the center of South Korea’s political spotlight.

Meanwhile, the special counsel stresses transparency and legal fairness. Cho Eun-suk’s team wants to ensure public trust while handling high-stakes political matters. They have promised to follow legal procedures carefully throughout the investigation. The focus remains on uncovering the full scope of the secret government decree. The result could affect the nation’s political climate for years to come.
