Doosan Robotics Makes Bold AI Play with ONExia Acquisition

Date:

Doosan Robotics has taken a bold step to strengthen its AI robotics growth by acquiring ONExia, a U.S.-based automation company. The South Korean robotics leader invested $25.9 million to gain majority control of the Pennsylvania firm. This deal gives Doosan an 89.59 percent stake and access to ONExia’s advanced automation capabilities.

The acquisition supports Doosan’s plan to lead the intelligent robotics industry. It aims to transition from a hardware-focused company to a software and AI-driven robotics innovator. Therefore, acquiring ONExia boosts both its software assets and market reach in North America.

AI robotics growth remains the company’s primary focus. ONExia brings over three decades of experience in automation design and engineering. It specializes in robotics systems for the manufacturing, logistics, and packaging sectors. These areas align well with Doosan’s future roadmap.

Moreover, ONExia has proven strengths in combining hardware and software technologies. This skillset will help Doosan improve its robotics platforms and accelerate innovation. The integration of ONExia also gives Doosan a stronger foundation for AI robotics growth in the global market.

Doosan plans to leverage ONExia’s position in the U.S. to expand its global footprint. This acquisition enhances Doosan’s competitive edge in intelligent automation solutions. It also opens the door to additional partnerships and customer engagement across North America.

To further support its AI robotics growth, Doosan is increasing investment in research and development. It is also restructuring its internal R&D teams to focus more on AI, software, and humanoid robotics. This strategic shift will help the company deliver smarter, more adaptive robotic systems.

Company CEO Kim Min-pyo said Doosan will continue to pursue similar acquisitions. He emphasized the importance of strong R&D and bold investments to compete in the era of physical AI. As a result, Doosan will keep exploring global opportunities to expand its innovation capacity.

In addition to expanding geographically, the company seeks to internalize more data-driven technologies. ONExia’s existing platforms and engineering talent will help Doosan reach this goal. The company expects to see long-term value from this strategic move.

This acquisition marks another milestone in Doosan’s vision to lead in intelligent robotics. With ONExia’s expertise and presence in the U.S., the company aims to deliver advanced automation at a global scale. Therefore, the future of Doosan now centers more clearly on AI robotics growth.
