Mongolia Presents Human Rights Progress Report at UN Committee Session in Geneva

Mongolia’s delegation, led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs Myagmar Nergui, presented its 7th periodic report on the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) at the ongoing UN Human Rights Committee session in Geneva, Switzerland, held from March 3 to 28, 2025.

During the sessions on March 10–11, Mongolian representatives highlighted recent legislative and regulatory reforms, policies, and achievements related to human rights protections. The delegation also responded to questions from Committee members on various human rights issues.

The Committee specifically acknowledged Mongolia’s progress in increasing women’s representation within the State Great Khural (Parliament). Discussions covered a range of critical topics, including freedom of expression, press freedoms, peaceful assembly, anti-corruption measures, combating air pollution, and addressing human trafficking.

Mongolia’s delegation consisted of officials from various institutions, including the Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, State Prosecutor’s Office, Independent Authority Against Corruption, General Authority for Child and Family Development and Protection, General Executive Agency of Court Decision, Secretariat for the Council for the Coordination of Crime Prevention, National Police Agency, and Immigration Agency.

The UN Human Rights Committee will publicly announce its conclusions and recommendations regarding Mongolia’s human rights situation on March 21, 2025.
