Cooperation Opens New Chapter Between Mongolia and Japan

A new chapter in interparliamentary cooperation began when Speaker Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve of Mongolia’s State Great Khural met with Fukushiro Nukaga, Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives. The meeting marked a significant step in deepening the partnership between these two democratic nations.

Speaker Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve opened the discussion by stressing Mongolia’s commitment to expanding its relationship with Japan. He described Japan as an important “third neighbor” and Special Strategic Partner. According to Amarbayasgalan, both countries share democratic values and have a strong foundation for cooperation. He also thanked Japan for its unwavering support in strengthening Mongolia’s democracy and promoting sustainable economic growth.

During the meeting, the Mongolian Speaker introduced the parliament’s new strategic plan, focusing on legal and regulatory reforms called the “Three Perfections” policy. He also revealed Mongolia’s plan to establish an advisory body under the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s Standing Committee on Sustainable Development. This advisory body aims to support the upcoming 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), which Mongolia will host. Amarbayasgalan expressed hope that Japan’s parliament would actively back this initiative.

On his part, Speaker Fukushiro Nukaga reflected on the recent State Visit to Mongolia by His Majesty Emperor Naruhito. He highlighted how this visit further cemented the strong bonds between the two countries’ peoples and governments. Nukaga also pointed out that Mongolia and Japan share mutual interests in economic, diplomatic, and security matters. He stated that the meeting symbolized a new chapter in interparliamentary cooperation, promising even closer collaboration in the future.

Overall, this meeting demonstrated a clear commitment from both sides to expand their parliamentary dialogue and cooperation. The new chapter in interparliamentary cooperation between Mongolia and Japan promises to enhance mutual understanding and joint efforts in key areas.
