Imase Health Hiatus Announced After Budokan Show

Date:

Singer-songwriter Imase has officially entered a health hiatus, according to an announcement posted on his official website on August 4th. The 24-year-old artist will suspend all activities due to worsening health. His management confirmed the decision, noting that Imase will step back from scheduled appearances to focus fully on recovery.

The announcement follows his live performance at Nippon Budokan on July 25th. Soon after the show, Imase’s condition deteriorated. Following a doctor’s diagnosis, the team decided that long-term rest was essential. Therefore, Imase will no longer participate in upcoming events or media projects, including his segment on NHK-FM’s “Music Line.”

Moreover, his ongoing serialization in MEN’S NON-NO has also been suspended. These cancellations reflect the artist’s shift toward healing and regaining his strength. In a heartfelt message, Imase personally addressed his fans and team. He said, “I’m sorry for the sudden concern this has caused.” He added, “I’ve always kept moving, so I hesitated to stop. But under medical advice, I’ve chosen to rest now.”

Importantly, Imase emphasized his long-term commitment to health. He stated, “Though I’m not someone who likes to take breaks, I need to take proper rest now, for the rest of my life. After that, I’ll walk forward again.”

Imase, originally from Gifu, rose to fame through TikTok in under a year. He made his major debut in December 2021 and quickly gained popularity with hits like “Night Dancer.” The track earned wide acclaim in Japan and Korea alike. In 2023, he won the Excellence Award at the 65th Japan Record Awards. Additionally, he became the first Japanese artist to perform and win at both MMA 2023 and CCMA 2023 in Korea.

Due to health concerns, Imase missed several appearances in July and August. These include TBS’s “Lavvit!”, the Osaka Gigantic Music Festival, and a special live event at the Kansai Expo. Imase’s health hiatus reminds fans and artists alike of the importance of rest. While fans await his return, they continue to support his choice to heal first.
