Mongolia and Oman Explore Joint Investment Fund for Growth

Date:

Mongolia is exploring a joint investment fund with Oman to strengthen economic and investment ties. Minister of Foreign Affairs Battsetseg Batmunkh welcomed Mr. Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority (OIA), for high-level discussions.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the strong friendship and growing cooperation between Mongolia and the Sultanate of Oman. They emphasized the need to expand partnerships in trade, investment, mining, agriculture, and renewable energy. In addition, both countries agreed that stronger collaboration could bring mutual economic benefits and long-term growth.

Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh expressed satisfaction with her official visit to Oman earlier this year. She noted that it led to OIA representatives visiting Mongolia and engaging with key government agencies. These meetings helped define priority areas for future joint projects and strengthened mutual understanding.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia confirmed it would provide comprehensive support to ensure smooth implementation of all joint initiatives. Meanwhile, President Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi shared that meetings with Mongolia’s Prime Minister and other officials were highly productive. They gained valuable insights into potential investment opportunities and joint programs that could benefit both countries.

He also expressed confidence that the first model project under this collaboration would begin soon. Both sides agreed to examine the creation of a joint investment fund to advance bilateral economic cooperation. They decided to hold detailed discussions at the institutional level to ensure proper planning and execution.

Officials from both countries highlighted the potential benefits of the fund, including promoting sustainable development, creating employment, supporting technological exchange, and attracting investors. They emphasized that the fund could become a platform for long-term economic growth and innovation in multiple sectors.

Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh highlighted Mongolia’s commitment to facilitating future investments and simplifying regulatory procedures. She also stated that both governments aim to make the joint investment fund a model for successful bilateral cooperation.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to maintain close communication, review progress regularly, and expand areas of partnership. Both Mongolia and Oman reiterated their interest in strengthening economic ties and creating opportunities that benefit businesses, communities, and governments alike.
