Ebarimt System Digitalization Set to Transform Tax Cashback

Date:

The Mongolian government is accelerating the Ebarimt system digitalization to simplify receipt registration. Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Communications Batshugar Enkhbayar recently met with officials to discuss this initiative.

During the meeting, representatives from the Bank of Mongolia, the General Department of Taxation, and the Finance Ministry emphasized ending paper-based receipts. They highlighted the importance of moving toward a fully digital platform.

Currently, electronic receipts register automatically through the CU Mongolia mobile application. Additionally, Khan Bank has integrated its services directly with the Ebarimt system. Telecommunication companies like Mobicom and Unitel have linked their services to the automated registration platform.

Following this progress, authorities now aim to register purchases made via citizens’ bank cards automatically. Minister Batshugar said this step supports Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav’s plan to raise cashback returns from 2 percent to 5 percent.

He also explained that simplifying Ebarimt receipt registration will help Mongolia advance its broader digital transition goals. As a result, citizens can claim full tax cashback more efficiently.

Deputy Governor of the Bank of Mongolia, Enkhtaivan Ganbold, noted that businesses already benefit from automatic receipt registration. For individuals, linking receipts to their national ID and bank accounts is technically feasible. However, users must select which account they want connected.

The Director of the Information Technology Center of Finance, Batbileg Tumur, added that point-of-sale systems already send data to the tax authority. Integrating bank transactions will require support from the Bank of Mongolia. On the user side, individuals will pick their preferred card. He stressed that security and privacy will remain priorities.

Officials agreed that full Ebarimt system digitalization will streamline transactions, improve efficiency, and increase tax compliance. Moreover, it will strengthen digital infrastructure and enhance public trust in government systems.

In conclusion, the move toward Ebarimt system digitalization signals Mongolia’s commitment to innovation, modern financial management, and citizen-friendly digital services. The project marks a major step in the country’s ongoing digital transformation.
