Taipei Ranked 5th Best in the World for Public Transport Services

Date:

Taipei has secured its place among the world’s top cities for public transportation, earning fifth place globally in a recent international survey of city dwellers’ satisfaction with urban transit systems.

The ranking, based on responses from 18,500 residents across more than 50 countries, was conducted by Time Out and highlights the growing global recognition of Taipei’s efficient, clean, and well-integrated transport network.

According to the report, 88% of Taipei’s residents praised the city’s public transport services, placing it just above London and behind only Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, and Abu Dhabi. Hong Kong topped the list, with a remarkable 98% approval rate from its users.

Taipei Main Station was spotlighted as a central hub for all modes of transportation, offering seamless connections between the Taiwan High-Speed Rail, Taipei Metro, and intercity bus networks. The city’s Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system earned acclaim for its punctuality and cleanliness, while the widespread use of EasyCards allows convenient access to not only metro and bus services but also to YouBike, Taipei’s popular public bicycle-sharing program.

The report also commended Taipei’s user-friendly bilingual signage—with electronic bus displays offering both English and Mandarin—making the network more accessible to both locals and international visitors.

This latest recognition further cements Taipei’s reputation as a leading example of smart, people-focused urban planning.
