Hamada’s First Exhibition Debuts in Tokyo

Date:

Hamada’s first exhibition is finally making its long-anticipated debut in Tokyo. Masatoshi Hamada, one-half of the legendary comedy duo Downtown, is stepping into a new spotlight—this time as an artist. His solo exhibition, “Contrails Crossing the Sky,” runs from October 19 to December 21, 2025, at Azabudai Hills Gallery.

Over the years, Hamada has built a unique presence in comedy, music, and fashion. Now, he is embracing visual art. This marks Hamada’s first official foray into the world of painting. Naturally, longtime fans, fellow entertainers, and curious art lovers are already buzzing with excitement.

Without a doubt, Hamada’s first exhibition promises an entirely original creative experience. The Azabudai Hills Gallery, located in the heart of Tokyo, has previously featured major names in both Japanese and international art. This time, it will become the stage for Hamada’s evolving artistic expression.

To bring this vision to life, a team of top-level designers and visual creators is working closely with Hamada to shape the show. The exhibition aims to bring his inner world to life through vivid compositions and unexpected themes. Every step of the way, the event is curated to reflect his multifaceted creativity.

Throughout his career, Masatoshi Hamada has never limited himself to one genre.Hamada rose to fame with Downtown, then took on music in 1995 with Tetsuya Komuro as “H Jungle with t,” always chasing new challenges. Moreover, his influence in fashion earned him the nickname “Hamadara,” launching style trends that lasted for years.

Now more than ever, Hamada’s creativity enters a new realm. His television appearances often hint at his artistic side, but this is the first time he shares it in a formal setting. Visitors can therefore expect bold visuals and deeply personal works that reflect his decades in entertainment.

As always, Hamada continues to surprise and inspire. With Hamada’s first exhibition, he invites the public to explore storytelling through paint rather than punchlines.Tickets and more information about the exhibition will be available through Azabudai Hills Gallery’s official channels.
