Mongolia Launches “Technology Week” in Darkhan-Uul to Boost Agricultural Innovation Under Atar-4 Campaign

Date:

Mongolia’s “Atar-4” Sustainable Agriculture Campaign has kicked off a new initiative, “Technology Week,” in Darkhan-Uul aimag, aimed at advancing innovation and promoting high-tech solutions in agriculture and intensive livestock farming.

The week-long program brings together government officials, industry experts, and stakeholders to explore and implement cutting-edge technologies in livestock fattening, meat production, and value chain development. Key discussion points included improving meat export standards, enhancing livestock health systems, and applying protected livestock farming models.

During the opening discussions, Minister of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry Enkhbayar Jadamba underlined the critical role of cattle breeding in strengthening food security, expanding rural employment, and creating new avenues for exports. He emphasized the importance of revitalizing Mongolia’s feed industry by promoting high-yield fodder crops and investing in haymaking, silage, and green fodder production. Strengthening veterinary services through public-private partnerships also emerged as a key priority to meet global certification and cold chain requirements for export competitiveness.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to integrating innovation into the sector. This includes expanding genetic improvements, smart livestock management systems, and digital platforms. There is also a focus on supporting research in feed efficiency, climate adaptation, and meat quality, alongside policies designed to attract youth and encourage innovation-driven entrepreneurship in agriculture.

“Technology Week” signals Mongolia’s forward-looking approach in transforming its traditional livestock industry into a resilient and modernized sector aligned with global market standards.
