Speaker of the Parliament D.Amarbayasgalan actively joined a 320-kilometer cycling ride during the “Tour of Mongolia 2025.” The event lasted three days and took place in the scenic provinces of Govi-Altai and Khovd. His involvement highlighted the increasing significance of cycling in western Mongolia and brought attention to the sport’s potential.
The annual tour aims to promote healthy living, encourage youth participation, and develop cycling in Mongolia’s rural western regions. In addition, the organizers plan to elevate the event into an Olympic ranking points competition. This year’s route cleverly utilized recently improved infrastructure, making the ride safer and more accessible.
Cyclists and athletes praised the recent upgrades to rural roads. Notably, the completion of the Khovd–Ulaangom and Uliastai–Altai highways has opened over 2,000 kilometers of circular routes. These routes will provide better training opportunities for athletes and make it possible to host international cycling competitions in the future.
Over the full six-day tour, riders will cover a total of 603 kilometers. The race stretches across four provinces: Govi-Altai, Khovd, Uvs, and Zavkhan. Competitors are determined to finish strong and earn top rankings in this challenging event. The varied terrain offers both a test of endurance and a showcase of Mongolia’s stunning western landscapes.
During the ride, Speaker D.Amarbayasgalan took the opportunity to encourage local children and young people to engage more actively in cycling. He emphasized the sport’s health benefits and the opportunity to represent Mongolia on international stages. His participation was meant to motivate the younger generation to take up cycling in western Mongolia.
Furthermore, the event organizers hope to strengthen the cycling community within these provinces. By highlighting the region’s cycling potential, they aim to attract more athletes, tourists, and sport enthusiasts. They also anticipate that increased sport tourism will help boost local economies and raise awareness about Mongolia’s natural beauty.
In summary, the “Tour of Mongolia 2025” combined with Speaker D.Amarbayasgalan’s involvement clearly highlights the growing momentum behind cycling in western Mongolia. This initiative not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also lays the foundation for Mongolia’s athletes to gain international recognition. With improved infrastructure and increased interest, the future looks bright for cycling in this part of the country.
