China India Talks: Leaders Push for Stable Relations

Date:

China India talks took center stage as Foreign Minister Wang Yi and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met in Beijing. The discussions marked the 24th round of talks between the special representatives on the boundary question.

Wang Yi emphasized that China attaches great importance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s planned visit to the SCO Summit in Tianjin. He stressed that China expects India to play a constructive role in ensuring the success of the summit.

The Chinese foreign minister recalled the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Modi in Kazan. He said their agreement charted a clear course for improving ties and managing the sensitive boundary issue.

According to Wang, China India talks have helped stabilize border conditions this year. He underlined that both countries, as large neighbors and developing economies, should trust and support one another.

Wang argued that history proves the stable growth of China-India ties benefits both nations and meets global expectations. He urged both sides to build a virtuous cycle of dialogue, cooperation, and trust to shape stronger bilateral relations.

Ajit Doval echoed these views, describing the Kazan leaders’ meeting as a turning point in bilateral ties. He stated that the positive shift improved mutual perceptions, preserved border stability, and advanced cooperation.

Doval confirmed that India continues to adhere to the one-China policy. He also noted that Prime Minister Modi looks forward to attending the Tianjin summit, viewing it as a chance for new progress.

The talks produced agreements on enhancing border management and moving toward early results in boundary negotiations. Both sides reaffirmed commitment to the 2005 guiding principles while seeking a fair and mutually acceptable settlement.

They also agreed to strengthen regular management of the frontier and safeguard peace in border areas. Officials confirmed that the 25th round of special representatives’ talks will take place in China next year.

Ultimately, China India talks highlighted the determination of both governments to overcome challenges through steady dialogue. Leaders on both sides agreed that cooperation is crucial for regional stability and global development.
