Air China and IndiGo Expand Flight Routes Between China and India

Date:

Air China will resume its Beijing Delhi direct route starting Tuesday as China India flight resumption gathers momentum. The carrier will operate three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The airline will use an Airbus A330 aircraft for this service. Economy class fares will start from 3,570 yuan or approximately 523 dollars. The flight departs at 3:15 pm and arrives in Delhi at 8:20 pm local time.

This China India flight resumption marks the second route restored by Chinese airlines this month. China Eastern Airlines resumed its Kunming Kolkata direct flight last Saturday. That route operates six weekly round trip flights using a Boeing 737 aircraft. China Eastern had previously resumed the Shanghai Delhi route in November 2025. The airline stated that these flights will add convenience to bilateral collaboration.

Indian carriers have also joined the China India flight resumption push. IndiGo announced a daily direct flight between Kolkata and Shanghai in March. That service started on March 29 of this year. IndiGo had previously resumed the Kolkata Guangzhou route as well. The airline also launched the Delhi Guangzhou route recently. IndiGo stated it will continue enriching travel options between both nations.

The renewed flight connections come at a significant time for bilateral ties. Both countries rank as the world’s two most populous nations. Trade and tourism exchanges have grown steadily between them. However, direct flight availability had declined during recent years. Consequently, the China India flight resumption will help meet growing demand. Business travelers and tourists alike will benefit from more options.

Industry analysts view these developments as a positive signal. Airlines on both sides are responding to market demand proactively. The resumptions also reflect improving diplomatic atmospherics between Beijing and New Delhi. Trade volumes between China and India have remained robust despite political tensions. Direct flights facilitate commerce, investment, and people to people contacts.

More route resumptions may follow these initial steps. Airlines will monitor passenger loads on these restored services. Strong demand could encourage additional frequency increases. Other Chinese carriers might also restart their India operations. Similarly, Indian airlines could explore new Chinese destinations beyond the current network. The China India flight resumption trend thus appears poised to continue. For now, passengers on both sides have more choices than just weeks ago. This expansion benefits economic cooperation and regional connectivity simultaneously.
