The meeting takes place ahead of three sold-out concerts at Estadio GNP Seguros. All shows sold out immediately after tickets went on sale in January. The Mexico City Chamber of Commerce projects $107.5 million in economic activity from the concerts. Spotify ranks Mexico as the fifth-largest K-pop streaming market globally. BTS remains the most-streamed K-pop artist among Mexican listeners. Their 2020 hit Dynamite tops the K-pop song chart in Mexico. This BTS presidential meeting formalized a cultural dominance already clear in streaming data.
Sheinbaum shared photos of the visit on social media afterward. She called the group the most loved by Mexican youth. The president added that BTS helps connect Mexico and South Korea through music. Following Mexico City, BTS will continue their Arirang world tour in the United States. The group returns to Busan for a two-day concert in June.
