Changan vehicle production reached a major milestone on Wednesday as the company rolled out its 30 millionth vehicle. This achievement comes just over four years after the automaker reached the 20 millionth unit mark.
The 30-millionth vehicle, an Avatr 12 sedan, was completed at Changan’s Avatr Smart Factory in Chongqing Municipality. Avatr represents the company’s premium electric vehicle brand, reflecting its focus on electrification and innovation.
Zhu Huarong, chairman of Changan, emphasized that it took the company 30 years to produce its first 10 million vehicles. It then required seven additional years to reach 20 million units, and just over four years to achieve the 30-million milestone.
“This rapid leap reflects the strong momentum of independent innovation and scale development in China’s automotive industry,” Zhu said, highlighting the company’s accelerated growth.
Changan vehicle production demonstrates the state-owned group’s ongoing transformation toward electrification, connectivity, and intelligent vehicle technologies. The milestone underscores China’s broader push to dominate the electric vehicle market.
Established on July 29, 2025, through a restructuring of the former Changan Automobile and other entities, Changan has become one of China’s three centrally administered state-owned automotive groups. The restructured group now prioritizes advanced EV technologies and smart mobility solutions.
Industry analysts note that Changan vehicle production growth mirrors national strategies to strengthen domestic automotive innovation and reduce reliance on foreign manufacturers. The accelerated production of electric vehicles signals strong domestic and international demand.
Changan also announced plans to expand production capacity at its Chongqing facility and other key plants. The company intends to increase research and development investments to maintain competitive advantages in EV technology.
In addition, the 30-millionth vehicle milestone highlights the efficiency gains achieved through factory modernization and digital manufacturing processes. These improvements have enabled Changan to reduce production times and scale output more rapidly than in previous decades.
Changan vehicle production now positions the company as a global player in the electric vehicle sector. Observers expect further expansion of the Avatr brand and increased international exports in the coming years.
