Chen Chu Recovery: Leaders Rally in Support

Date:

Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim and former President Tsai Ing-wen visited Chen Chu in Kaohsiung. They visited her at Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital. The visit took place on Saturday. Leaders expressed their support during the Chen Chu recovery.

Chen Chu, 74, remains in a state of convalescence. She has fought multiple health challenges. First, she battled influenza in December 2024. Then, doctors discovered a tumor in her kidney. The finding forced urgent surgery. Consequently, Chen Chu needed immediate treatment. Later, she suffered a brain embolism on December 28. Emergency surgery followed immediately. The surgery succeeded, and doctors reported a stable condition. However, her recovery has extended for over four months.

Initially, Chen Chu received treatment for influenza. Then, she experienced a critical setback with a kidney tumor. After the tumor surgery, she prepared for discharge. Unfortunately, a brain embolism disrupted her progress. Doctors worked fast to address the embolism. They performed an emergency operation that helped stabilize her condition. Nonetheless, she still remains under close observation.

In the meantime, Chen Chu returned two months of salary. She did this during her prolonged recovery. She planned to resume work in March. Unfortunately, health issues delayed her return. Thus, many observers now discuss the Chen Chu recovery. They wonder how long her duties may be postponed.

On Sunday, the hospital issued a brief statement. The statement noted that Chen Chu’s condition improves slowly. Moreover, doctors remain optimistic about her recovery. However, the hospital refused to share more details. They stated that they could not release additional information.

In conclusion, high-ranking officials support the Chen Chu recovery. Vice President Hsiao and former President Tsai visited her to show solidarity. They hoped to lift her spirits with their presence. The incident reminds many that health challenges affect public leaders too. Moving forward, officials will monitor her progress closely. They expect further updates as Chen Chu continues her recovery.
