China and Brunei Vow Shared Future Commitment

Date:

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met Brunei’s Crown Prince Billah in Beijing on Tuesday. The crown prince also serves as senior minister at the prime minister’s office. Han expressed China’s willingness to take the shared future commitment to a new level. This shared future commitment builds on thousands of years of friendly exchanges. Consequently the relationship serves as a model of mutual equality and benefit.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both nations. Therefore Han urged both sides to implement important consensus from their heads of state. For instance they should inherit traditional friendship and enhance strategic cooperation accordingly. Furthermore both nations need mutual support on core interest issues actively.

Han also called for deepening Belt and Road flagship project cooperation. Then he proposed expanding collaboration in artificial intelligence and digital economy. Green economy, energy, and agriculture offer additional opportunities as well. Finally Han emphasised facilitating personnel exchanges between the two countries.

Crown Prince Billah praised China’s great economic and social development achievements. He noted that Brunei-China friendship yields tangible results in practical cooperation. Moreover Brunei firmly adheres to the one-China policy without any hesitation. The prince expressed willingness to maintain close communication with China. Such cooperation will contribute to regional peace, security, and prosperity altogether.

The shared future commitment now moves from diplomatic vision into concrete action. Both sides will likely sign new agreements on digital and green economies. This high-level meeting reaffirms the growing strategic importance of Brunei for China. Subsequently the joint steering committee will meet again later this year.
