BRICS Security Meeting in New Delhi Includes Talks Between Chinese and Indian Officials

Date:

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in New Delhi Monday. Both officials attended the sixteenth meeting of the BRICS National Security Advisors this week. They discussed the gradual recovery and improvement of relations between their two large nations. Wang emphasized that China and India should act as partners rather than as regional competitors. This consensus provides the necessary foundation for the steady development of their complex relationship. They also reviewed progress on normalizing various exchanges between the two countries after recent border tensions.

Doval noted that both leaders previously defined the direction for future growth during their summits. India remains willing to view relations with China from a long-term and very steady perspective. Both sides agreed to manage their differences and accelerate the process of improving communication. Officials also exchanged views on several international issues while preparing for the upcoming September summit. India currently holds the rotating chair of the BRICS grouping and coordinates the upcoming agenda. Wang confirmed that China supports India in fulfilling its leadership responsibilities for this international mechanism.

Both countries aim to advance their cooperation and promote the modernization process of the Global South. They intend to respect core interests while navigating sensitive issues to maintain overall regional stability. Officials plan to restore dialogue mechanisms across trade, finance, law enforcement, and other public sectors. Better communication will help guide society toward a correct understanding of their shared development goals. This BRICS security meeting allows both nations to safeguard the legitimate rights of all developing countries. This constructive engagement marks a positive step toward ensuring long-term peace along their shared border. The BRICS security meeting remains the primary focus for regional diplomatic efforts in the coming months.
