Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed China’s involvement in the commemorative events during an April meeting with Foreign Minister Wang Yi. He emphasized that China–Russia strategic collaboration must continue to send strong signals globally. Amid rising international volatility, both leaders believe bilateral strength ensures regional and global stability. They aim to present a united front during uncertain times. Their partnership reflects a long-term vision rather than temporary alignment.
Chinese Ambassador Zhang Hanhui stressed that the two nations jointly defend World War II’s legacy and global postwar order. He also highlighted their shared commitment to upholding international justice and the United Nations’ central role. Zhang described China–Russia strategic collaboration as a bulwark against attempts to rewrite historical outcomes. According to him, both sides prioritize mutual respect and coordination across diplomatic platforms. These principles shape the steady trajectory of their relationship.
Wang Wen, dean at Renmin University’s Chongyang Institute, echoed this confidence in bilateral ties. He said Russia’s alignment with China reflects a strategic, long-term decision rather than opportunism. Wang noted that their alliance withstands global events and external interference. Senior officials from both countries continue to meet regularly, further deepening the partnership. In March, Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang met Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk in Hainan. The following month, Ding hosted Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev in Beijing. These exchanges show a consistent push to enhance coordination across sectors.
